WHY CHOOSE A VERTICAL RING DIE STRUCTURE?
The Vertical Ring Die Pellet Machine features a unique vertical layout design, which enhances its ability to process high-fiber, coarse-fiber, low-density, and difficult-to-form raw materials. The vertical structure allows materials to be fed vertically, ensuring uniform force on the pressure rollers and high utilization of the ring die, resulting in less wear on the die and stronger continuous production capabilities. The pellets produced have high density, smooth surface, and higher quality.
Working Principle Of Vertical Ding Die Pellet Mill
In simple terms, raw materials enter the pelleting chamber of the vertical ring die pellet machine through the feeding system. Under gravity, the material is evenly distributed on the surface of the ring die. Driven by a motor, the pressure rollers rotate at high speed, forcefully squeezing the material into the die holes. Under high temperature and pressure, the material is compressed into cylindrical pellets, which are then cut by a cutter and discharged from the outlet.

ONE-STOP GRANULATION PRODUCTION LINE
Our vertical ring die pellet production line features a modular design. The entire production line can be customized based on raw material type, moisture content, production capacity requirements, and finished product standards. The line covers multiple stages, including raw material processing, pelleting, post-granulation processing, and packaging and storage, ensuring high-quality final pellets.
1
Raw Material Cleaning:
Before entering the production line, biomass raw materials undergo a cleaning process to remove impurities such as stones, metal, ropes, and plastics. This prevents equipment wear and blockages, improves production safety, and guarantees the quality of the finished pellets and the long-term stable operation of the equipment.
2
Composting and Fermentation:
When using animal manure to make organic fertilizer pellets, the manure needs to be fermented and fermented. During composting, most bacteria and harmful microorganisms are eliminated, ensuring the safety of the fertilizer.
3
Crushing System:
For larger raw materials, crushing equipment is used to process them into a suitable pelleting state. Crushed materials are more uniform, facilitating subsequent moisture control and extrusion pelleting, thereby improving pellet formation rate and production efficiency.
4
Drying System:
Excessive moisture content in raw materials severely affects pellet formation. Therefore, a drying system is essential to strictly control the moisture content of the raw materials. Depending on the raw material characteristics and production capacity requirements, both rotary drum dryers and mesh belt dryers are available.
5
Batching and Mixing:
Various additives, microbial agents, and other substances are added according to product requirements and then uniformly mixed.
6
Pelletizing System:
Pelletizing is the core of the entire production line. After a series of processing steps, the raw materials are fed into the vertical wood pellet machine, where they are extruded under high temperature and pressure by pressure rollers and ring dies to form high-density fuel pellets.
7
Cooling System:
Freshly pressed pellets are very hot and not yet hard enough, requiring timely cooling. Cooling further improves the hardness and strength of the pellets and dries them, preventing breakage and mold growth during storage and transportation.
8
Screening System:
The cooled pellets enter the screening system to separate finished pellets from unqualified fragments. Qualified pellets proceed to the packaging stage, while the screened powder can be returned to the pelletizing process for reuse, thereby improving raw material utilization and product qualification rate. Our pellet forming rate is over 98%.
9
Packaging System:
The screened finished pellets are weighed and packaged by an automatic packaging system. Small bag packaging, ton bag packaging, or bulk packaging can be selected according to market demand. Packaging the granules makes them easier to store, transport, and sell, increasing product added value and market competitiveness.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
After reading this article, do you still have any questions? We have prepared answers to some frequently asked questions for you. You can also contact us directly, and we will arrange a professional technical consultant to provide you with one-on-one free answers.
What raw materials can a vertical ring die pellet machine process?
+
Vertical ring die pellet machines are particularly suitable for pelleting high-fiber, low-density materials and can be widely used in biomass fuel, organic fertilizer, and animal bedding. Common raw materials include sawdust, shavings, wood chips, straw, rice husks, peanut shells, palm shells, coconut shells, palm fiber, bagasse, chicken manure, cow manure, sheep manure, and other fermented organic fertilizers, cat litter, pet bedding materials, garden waste, and mushroom waste.
What is the difference between a vertical ring die pellet machine and a horizontal ring die pellet machine?
+
The biggest difference lies in the feeding method. Vertical ring die pellet machines use gravity feeding, where the material falls directly into the pelleting chamber, reducing the likelihood of uneven feeding, blockages, clumping, and bridging. This makes them particularly suitable for loose, lightweight raw materials such as sawdust, straw, and rice husks. Horizontal ring die pellet machines, on the other hand, typically require a forced feeding system. Compared to other types, vertical ring die structures typically offer advantages such as smoother feeding, greater adaptability to raw materials, more uniform pressure on the pressure rollers, and better operational stability.
Why control the moisture content of raw materials in pelleting?
+
The moisture content of raw materials is a crucial factor affecting pellet quality and yield. Excessive moisture can lead to loose pellets, die clogging, and reduced output; conversely, insufficient moisture makes pellet formation difficult, increases energy consumption, and accelerates die wear. Generally, a moisture content of around 15% is optimal for pelleting raw materials, but the specific value depends on the type of raw material, pellet type, and intended use.
Is die clogging common in pellet mills?
+
Under normal production conditions, pellet mills do not frequently clog. Clogging is usually caused by substandard raw material moisture content, substandard particle size, prolonged downtime without die cleaning, improper ring die compression ratio selection, or impurities in the raw materials. Regularly maintaining the ring die and properly controlling raw material parameters can significantly reduce the risk of clogging.
