Ring Die Pellet Machine
A ring die pellet machine is a highly efficient pelletizing device widely used in various industries, especially large-scale feed mills, biomass fuel plants, organic fertilizer production lines, and cat litter pellet production lines.
Compared to flat die pellet machines, ring die pellet machines offer significant advantages such as higher output, lower energy consumption, and longer die life, making them particularly suitable for continuous, large-scale industrial production.

What is the ring die pellet machine?
A ring die pellet machine is a multi-functional, high-efficiency pelletizing device that compresses various powdery raw materials into dense, uniform, and durable pellets. Unlike traditional flat die pellet machines, ring die pellet machines use a circular die with an internal hole and rotating pressure rollers to continuously extrude materials under high pressure, achieving high-efficiency, automated, and large-scale pellet production.
This equipment is one of the core pieces of equipment in a modern pellet production line, suitable for pelleting various materials, including animal feed ingredients, biomass fuels, organic fertilizers, and cat litter base materials. It can compress loose or fibrous powders into dense cylindrical pellets, thereby significantly improving raw material utilization, transportation convenience, storage stability, and overall economic value.
The ring die pellet machine utilizes high-precision components and a heavy-duty steel structure, combined with advanced processing technology, ensuring the stability and energy efficiency of the equipment during long-term continuous production. Its capacity ranges from 1 ton/hour to 40 tons/hour, and the pellet diameter can be flexibly customized from 2mm to 12mm depending on the type of raw material and application requirements.
In summary, it is not only an indispensable core piece of equipment in the feed industry but also a flexible production solution for industries such as biomass fuel, organic fertilizer, and cat litter, helping companies achieve efficient, sustainable, and diversified production and return on investment.
With its multi-functional design and high adaptability, this equipment can provide customers with efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly pelleting solutions in multiple industries.

How does the ring die pellet machine work?
The core principle of a ring die pellet machine is to compress loose, powdery or fibrous raw materials into dense, uniform pellets using mechanical pressure and heat. The entire pelleting process is mainly completed in three key structures: the conditioner, the pelleting chamber, and the cutting system.
The raw material first enters the conditioner, where it is thoroughly mixed with steam or hot air to achieve suitable humidity and temperature. This step softens the material, enhances its binding force, and provides ideal forming conditions for subsequent pressing processes.
Next, the conditioned material enters the pelleting chamber. This part consists of a rotating ring die and one or more sets of pressure rollers. As the pressure rollers rotate, the material is forcefully pressed into the ring die holes. Under high pressure and friction, moderate heat is generated, causing the natural binding components in the material (such as lignin in biomass raw materials or starch in feed raw materials) to melt and act as a binder, thereby forming dense cylindrical pellets.
After being extruded from the die holes, the material is cut into pellets of uniform length by a rotating cutter. The pellets are then discharged directly from the outlet and can proceed to subsequent cooling, screening, or packaging stages, completing the entire pelleting process.
This equipment provides continuous and efficient granulation, producing particles with uniform density and smooth surfaces. Furthermore, the gap between the pressure rollers, the die aperture, and the compression ratio are all flexibly adjustable to adapt to different raw materials and production needs.

FAQ
To help customers better understand our equipment, we have compiled frequently asked questions to provide clear guidance for their investments and help ensure efficient and worry-free equipment operation.
My large farm mainly raises livestock and poultry. I now plan to produce my own animal feed. How should I choose the right equipment?
+
For large-scale farms raising broilers, layers, pigs, and cattle, RICHI recommends choosing a ring die pellet machine equipped with a double-layer conditioner and variable-frequency feeding system. This configuration ensures sufficient feed maturation, higher pellet density, and uniform nutrition distribution.
If your goal is to produce multiple types of feed, such as both poultry and cattle feed, RICHI can design a multi-formula feed production line with adjustable molds and automatic control, allowing flexible conversion between different feed types. Our technical team will analyze your raw materials, animal types, and desired capacity to provide a complete customized solution, including pelletizing equipment, mixers, grinders, coolers, and packaging machines.
I’m from Nigeria and recently want to invest in a feed mill. The main raw materials here are corn, soybean meal, peanut meal, and rice husks. Can your company provide formulations and customized equipment?
+
Yes, of course. RICHI has rich project experience in Africa, including Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and Ethiopia. Based on your local raw materials such as corn, soybean meal, peanut meal, and rice husks, our engineers can design scientific feed formulas and provide customized ring die pellet machines optimized for your materials.
We will analyze the nutritional composition and physical properties of each ingredient to develop balanced and cost-effective feed recipes suitable for poultry, cattle, fish, or goats commonly raised in Nigeria. Meanwhile, RICHI can tailor the ring die structure, conditioner system, and layout design to ensure stable pelletizing performance and high feed conversion efficiency.
Is it possible to use one production line for both biomass and fertilizer pellet production?
+
Yes, with proper configuration and process adjustments, a single production line can be used simultaneously for the production of biomass and organic fertilizer pellets. RICHI offers modularly designed pelleting systems that allow for flexible and rapid switching between different production applications. By simply replacing or adjusting key components, the same main unit can be used for producing biomass fuel pellets from sawdust, rice husks, and crop straw, as well as for manufacturing organic fertilizer pellets from livestock manure, compost, or biogas residue.
To ensure finished product quality, we employ independent feeding systems for different raw materials to prevent cross-contamination between organic and biomass raw materials. Simultaneously, the intelligent control system automatically optimizes temperature, moisture content, and compression ratio based on the raw material type, allowing operators to easily switch production modes with a single click. This multi-functional configuration not only significantly improves equipment utilization but also reduces enterprise investment costs, making it ideal for production companies simultaneously operating in the renewable energy and agricultural fertilizer sectors.
Can the ring die pellet machine process different types of biomass materials such as sawdust, rice husk, and straw?
+
Yes. The ring die pellet machine can handle a wide range of biomass raw materials including sawdust, wood shavings, rice husks, straw, bagasse, palm fiber, and more. By adjusting compression ratios and die hole sizes, the machine can ensure stable molding and high pellet density even with materials of varying fiber content and moisture levels.
I plan to produce cat litter pellets using sawdust and tofu residue. Can your machine handle such mixtures?
+
Yes, our ring die pellet machine can efficiently process mixed raw materials such as sawdust and tofu residue for the production of cat litter pellets. Sawdust provides a dry fibrous structure, which helps form strong pellets; tofu residue contains higher moisture and natural binding components, which enhances the compactness and formability of the pellets.
RICHI engineers will customize pelleting process parameters based on the characteristics of the raw materials, including adjusting the moisture content, conditioning temperature, compression ratio, and ring die aperture structure, to ensure a stable pelleting process and consistent pellet quality. For these high-moisture mixed raw materials, we also recommend equipping the machine with an integrated drying system and a variable frequency feeding system to maintain uniform feeding and prevent clogging.
