The raw materials of livestock feed are generally grains and grasses, and to process them into feed pellets, these raw materials need to be crushed first.

Among them, corn, wheat, soybean meal and other grain raw materials are usually crushed by RICHI SFSP series water drop crusher. The grain crushing machine has the advantages of reasonable secondary crushing structure and high yield. The crushing size is usually 0.8-4mm.

The crushing of grass usually uses grass hammer mills designed for light materials. The grass crusher has a feeder with a forcing device, and the crushing chamber is larger, which is more conducive to the crushing of forage, straw, rice husk, alfalfa and other light materials. The crushing size is generally 2-6mm.

The mixing of materials after crushing

Mixing the crushed material evenly is the basis for producing high-quality feed pellets. Of course, the proportion of these materials is according to the feed formula.

If pig feed pellets are produced, the raw materials generally do not contain grass or contain very little grass, the mixing section usually uses RICHI SLHT series single shaft double layer paddle mixer. The feed mixer has a high mixing uniformity of 97.7% and a short mixing time of 2-3 minutes per batch.

If the production of cattle and sheep feed pellets, the raw material usually contains grass, the mixing section will choose SLHY series single shaft double ribbon mixer. The forage mixer has a large effective volume (0.5-5m³), which can accommodate more grass meal.

Pelletizing section

The pelletizing section is the core of livestock feed pellet manufacturing technology, the main equipment is RICHI SZLH series livestock feed pellet mill. The final pellet capacity, molding rate, appearance and quality are closely related to the selected livestock feed pellet machine.

The crushed and mixed materials pass through the feeder into the conditioner of the pellet machine. The function of the conditioner is to cure, gelatinize and sterilize the materials. The prepared materials enter the granulation chamber through the chute. The materials are strongly pressed by the press roller and the ring die in the pelleting chamber and extruded from the ring die hole. The cutter cuts the extruded high density columnar feed into small segments to form the final livestock feed pellets.

Cooling, screening and packing

The feed pellet temperature from the livestock pellet machine is about 80 °C. These pellets are easy to break, and they are not convenient to pack and store. Therefore, livestock feed plant usually has pellet cooler, and the cooled pellet temperature will not be higher than 5 °C above room temperature.

The function of screening is to classify the cooled feed pellets into three categories according to size: too small, moderate, and too large. Both too small and too large pellets can be recycled and re-pelleted in the feed pellet production line. This can improve the quality of the pellets and reduce the waste of feed.

The screened feed pellets enter the packaging system to complete the final step of livestock feed pellet manufacturing. Packaged feed pellets save space and are easy to transport and store.
